The Salvation Army of Waco in partnership with Extraco Banks and Star 92.9 will launch a school supply drive from July 27 through August 21 for a "back to school" blitz on August 21-August 22 to help fill a bus with school supplies to help families in need.

Donations of new school supplies can be dropped off in collection box inside each location on
July 27 through August 21 at any McLennan County Extraco Banks location.

The addresses are:

1700 North Valley Mills Drive (Waco)
200 Hewitt Drive (Midway)
1207 North Loop 340 (North Lake Shore)
107 South Frontage Road (Lorena)
415 N. Johnson Drive (McGregor)

The following items are being accepted: rulers, spiral notebooks, erasers, glue, crayons, backpacks, markers, 2-pocket folders, pens & pencils, paper, and construction paper.

The supplies will then be sorted and packed into backpacks for distribution to families starting on Aug. 24th from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Distribution will be held at The Salvation Army of Waco, 1225 S. Jack Kultgen Expressway.
The Back-to-School supply campaign is one of several ongoing outreach programs provided year-round by The Salvation Army. Other outreach includes rent and mortgage payment assistance for working families facing unavoidable emergencies, food boxes for the hungry, Christmas gifts for thousands of children and summer camp children and senior citizens.
"These hard economic times are squeezing parents on every front," said Captain Russell Czajkowski, corps officer at The Salvation Army of Waco. "The Salvation Army is seeing the outcome of those realities everyday as parents turn to us for help. We're glad to partner with the Extraco Banks and Star 92.9 to ensure students have the basic supplies needed to start the school year without need or embarrassment."
Monetary gifts are encouraged and will be used to purchase new school supplies. Donations earmarked “Back To School”, can be mailed to The Salvation Army of Waco, P.O. Box 268 Waco, Texas 76703.
