Waco Art Center Features Works By Renowned Artist Karl Umlauf

WACO, TEXAS- The Art Center Of Waco announces the opening exhibit of selected works by renowned artist Karl Umlauf. The exhibit begins with an opening reception Friday, July 24, 2009 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with artist’s remarks at 7 p.m. The exhibit continues thru October 2, 2009. Approximately 45 selective pieces will be shown by Umlauf.
This Baylor University artist-in-resident for over 20 years earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s of Fine Arts from Cornell University in New York. He has also attended the Summer School of Music and Art at Yale University.
Umlauf’s selected collections on display include pieces at the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce; American Airlines, DFW Airport; the Martin Museum of Art, Baylor University; Cornell University; Dallas Museum of Art; El Paso Museum of Art; Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, NY.; Fogg Art Museum, Cambridge, MA.; GTE Corporation; Hewlett-Packard Corporation; Modern Museum of Art, New York City, NY; New Orleans Museum of Art, New Orleans, LA.; Tyler Museum of Art ; Silvermine Guild of Artists, New Canaan, Connecticut; as well as numerous public collections.
Prior to Umlauf’s residency at Baylor, he taught art at Indiana University, East Texas State University in Commerce, University of Northern Iowa and the University of Pennsylvania. He has toured as a visiting artist, lecturer and held various workshops throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas and Arizona for the past 40 years.
