(Press release)
In 2008, 250 scholars, students, staff, and community partners attended Baylor University’s inaugural Poverty Summit to discuss issues surrounding poverty.
This year, the Summit will include three days of activities and is open to all Texas colleges and universities.
Through interdisciplinary breakout sessions the summit aims to stimulate academic thought; raise awareness about poverty; engage students about the issues surrounding poverty; and encourage action.
Join us for an exhibition of justice initiatives, workshops designed to foster open dialogue about poverty, a world hunger dinner, and a film screening.
The event will take place Nov. 6 – 8 in the Bill Daniel Student Center at Baylor University, Waco, Texas.
Speakers include David Johnson, founder of non-profit Silent Images; Heidi Curry, co-founder of Ocean Academy in Belize; and Jimmy Dorrell, Executive Director of Mission Waco.
