Registration for the second annual Greater Waco Community Education Summit is now available online at http://educatewaco.com. The summit, Building a Sustainable Community Education Alliance, will be held Nov. 18-20, and is open to everyone in the Greater Waco area.

Opening on Wednesday evening, Nov. 18 at the Waco Convention Center, the second annual summit will address all eight of the Greater Waco Community Education Alliance Assumptions, with special emphasis on early childhood education, health and education, business engagement, parenting, and reading readiness. Attendees will hear several main tent addresses, participate in 19 special topic breakout sessions, and receive a comprehensive report of the state of childcare in the region.

As with the first annual summit, area students will provide music interludes, showcasing the talent of many of our youth. On Friday morning, the summit will move to Baylor University’s Ferrell Center for additional main tent presentations, including an address by Donna Beegle, Education as a Means for Ending Poverty: Waco’s Challenge and a Practical Approach for Effective Education for Poor Children.

Dr. Beegle will provide a special in-service on Friday afternoon, titled Educators and the Community as the Solution: Practical Skills for Communicating and Working with People in Poverty.
