Monday, November 30, 2009 - Killeen, Texas - Hope Pregnancy Centers today invited the community to join with them to provide a "Gift of Hope" this Christmas. Individuals, families, church and community groups can give the gift of hope this Christmas with donations of baby supplies. The supplies will be shared with expecting mothers and families in need, during the holidays and throughout the year.
The non-for-profit ministry is seeking donations of diapers, baby wipes, receiving blankets, baby caps and booties, infant clothes, baby care products such as soap, shampoo, lotion, diaper cream, etc., as well as essential baby gear like strollers, car seats (new), carriers, baby seats, high chairs, etc. New and gently used items are most appreciated.
Hope Pregnancy Centers (Hope) helps those facing a crisis or unplanned pregnancy by providing practical assistance, education, loving encouragement and spiritual guidance, ultimately promoting life - physically and spiritually. The volunteer-driven, Christian organization offers pregnancy testing, limited obstetrical ultrasounds, pregnancy education, confidential counseling, community referrals, parenting classes, baby and maternity supplies, pre- and post-adoption support, and abortion recovery support.
There is a great demand for material support. In the first 9 months of 2009, Hope Pregnancy Centers served more women than in all of 2008. A total of 3,036 women have visited Hope centers in Killeen, Temple and Copperas Cove - a 50% increase versus the same period last year. More than 800 families have already received assistance in the form of diapers, clothes and other gifts.
Through its' services, the agency encourages life and provides hope and support to those facing an extremely difficult situation. Equally as important, Hope builds a stronger community by impacting issues of education, child abuse prevention, parenting and family values.
Individuals, groups, churches and businesses are strongly encouraged to give. Contributions of baby essentials are welcomed at each of the service locations; call Hope centers in Killeen at 554-6822 or 519-3343, in Temple at 773-2453; or in Copperas Cove at 518-4673.
