Due to recent growth, we are looking to add a a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant to the talented staff at our Temple office.
Duties
This position will be responsible for providing in-home therapy utilizing a thorough knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in physical therapy in accordance with agency policy and procedure and under the direction of a Licensed Physical Therapist. The duties of the PTA will include, but will not be limited to treating clients to relieve pain, develop or restore functions, and maintain maximum performance. This includes directing and aiding clients in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education and gait and functional training activities of daily living using transfer activities and prosthetic training. In addition, the PTA will instruct the client in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic and orthotic devices. Moreover, he or she will instruct the client's family on the client's total physical therapy program.
Qualifications
• The ideal Physical Therapy Assistant will have completed the required educational programs, passed applicable exams and is currently licensed in the state of Texas.
• He / she must have a valid driver's license, and have reliable transportation and furnish evidence of current liability insurance, if applicable.
• Prior experience working in Home Health is preferred.
• Prior experience working under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist, and a solid understanding of or willingness to learn common therapy practices with both inpatient and outpatient clients is a must.
