Ambulatory Oncology Pharmacy Manager (182735)

Description

This position is responsible for the strategic planning, operations, and business development for a new ambulatory oncology service line within Metroplex Hospital. Areas of responsibility will include program development, operational efficiency, quality and financial outcomes, and annual business planning. This individual will have program accountability for the oncology service line and the development of cancer programs in the ambulatory cancer clinic.

Essential Functions:
  • Complies in all activities with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements for a specific practice setting.
  • Coordinates, oversees and participates in direct patient care activity to include clinical services and order entry.
  • Conducts evaluations and professional development for other care providers practicing in the care center. Designs and delivers in-service education for physicians, nurses, technicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding drug therapy issues.
  • Retrieves clinical information for monitoring and review of the medication use process.
  • Provides concise, applicable, timely literature based responses to requests for drug information from healthcare providers and patients. Uses effective patient education techniques to provide counseling and education to patients and caregivers. Develops written clinical information to provide medication related information to healthcare providers.
  • Assists in the acquisition of non-formulary, compassionate use, and investigational medications. Prepares and dispenses medication using appropriate techniques, assures completeness and appropriateness of the order before distribution.
  • Designs, recommends, monitors, and evaluates patient specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens. Ensure continuity of care to and from the acute and ambulatory patient care environments.
  • Utilizes and documents existing clinical intervention policies and procedures.
  • Directs the PI/QI activities in the cancer care center.
  • Precepts students.
Qualifications:
  • Must be Texas State licensed or eligible
  • Must have PharmD
  • Hospital clinical experience preferred
  • Completion of Clinical Residency Program in Oncology is preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience is preferred
