WASHINGTON (November 17, 2009)- Published reports say the Army will conduct an internal investigation to examine whether it missed warning signs about the man accused of killing 13 people in the violent Nov. 5 Fort Hood Shooting.
The Wall Street Journal cited anonymous officials who said the probe would focus on suspected shooter Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan's six years at Washington's Walter Reed Medical Center, where he worked as a psychiatrist before his transfer to Fort Hood in July.
The Washington Post reported that Army Chief of Staff Gen. George W. Casey Jr. is forming the investigative panel.
A military official previously told The Associated Press that doctors who oversaw Hasan's medical training discussed concerns about his overly zealous religious views and strange behavior months before the attack.
