ROGERS (June 10, 2009)—A Rogers student’s end-of-the-year prank caused a few anxious moments Wednesday morning for Rogers and Bell County law enforcement officers and paramedics who thought they were racing to a school shooting.
The 12-year-old girl, who was not identified, used her cell phone to call 911 at about 10 a.m. Wednesday and told the operator that a former student had shot a current student at Rogers Middle School, Rogers police said.
As the first emergency vehicles arrived, however, authorities were discovering that the call was a hoax.
There was no shooting and no one was hurt.
The girl was arrested and taken to the Bell County Juvenile Center, in Killeen, Rogers Police Chief Robert Wireman said.
She’s charged with making a false report, he said.

Had this prank happened 30 years ago, everyone would be laughing. Unfortunately times have changed and I agree it should be treated as a threat to the school. It does not matter how good a parent you are, bottom line is parents are responsible for the actions of their children and if you don't want to be responsible, then don't have children.
