GATESVILLE (June 16, 2009)—A hearing for former Coryell County Jail guard Lindsey Ann Russell, 30, who was expected to plead guilty at 9 a.m. Tuesday on a charge involving improper sexual activity with an inmate, has been postponed until July.
The appearance is now on the docket for July 10, court officials said Tuesday.
No reason was given for the delay.
Coryell County sheriff's deputies arrested Russell last September on a warrant charging violation of civil rights of a person in custody.
She’s scheduled to appear Tuesday in District Judge Trent Farrell's 52nd District Court, in Gatesville.
The warrant stems from an internal investigation that started near the end of August when Coryell County Sheriff Johnny Burks said he first learned of the allegations of improper conduct involving a jailer and an inmate.
Russell was fired on Sept. 11, 2008.
She had been employed as a jailer since July 2008.
Russell has been free on a $5,000 bond.
