WACO (June 23, 2009)—Firefighters from Hewitt, Waco and Woodway responded Tuesday evening to a fire at a Hewitt pallet company that produced a column of smoke that was visible for miles.
The fire broke out just before 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Red Express Pallet Co. at 7314 Bagby Ave.
Bagby Avenue was closed to traffic in the area of the fire.
Hewitt firefighters requested assistance from both Waco and Woodway both because of the 100-degree heat, which required regular relief for crews and because of the need for additional water to douse the flames.
The fire was under control by about 7:30 p.m.

The road is most commonly referred to as The Old Temple Road, but it's a few hundred feet south to the Hewitt City Limit sign. And the Pallet Company regularly burns off their scrap wood in a metal three walled container. But yes The County must have in place a 'Burn-Ban' soon!!
