WACO (June 25, 2009)—Russell Edward Petter, 45, of Robinson, who disappeared after missing a court appearance on a DWI charge in May 2008, was in the McLennan County Jail Thursday where he was held without bond on a DWI forfeiture.
Jail records indicate he was arrested outside of the county, but did not say where or by whom.
Petter had been missing since Memorial Day 2008 when he left his father’s home in Seguin, but never returned to his home in Robinson.
Later that same day a resident spotted Petter’s pickup truck behind a barn just off Spring Valley Road.
Police said they had surveillance video that showed Petter boarding a New Mexico-bound bus at the downtown Waco bus station and said they thought he left the area on his own accord.
Robinson police said they were working with authorities in New Mexico in an attempt to find Petter, who was named an arrest warrant issued after he missed the court appearance on what police said was his fourth DWI charge.
