WACO (July 2, 2009)—Jennifer Mitchell, the former office manager of the Waco Civic Theatre, pleaded guilty Thursday to federal charges in the theft of an undisclosed amount of money from the community theater.
Mitchell was accused of forging a signature on a company check and pocketing the proceeds and of making several unauthorized ATM withdrawals.
Acting U.S. Attorney John E. Murphy said Thursday the amount taken has not yet been determined.
The thefts were discovered by a routine financial audit last year by the theater’s board of directors.
U.S. Magistrate Jeffrey Manske is vice president of the board.
U.S. District Judge Walter Smith will sentence Mitchell on Aug. 26.
She faces as much as 10 years in federal prison and a fine of as much as $250,000.

Typical Mclennan county. She will probably get a years probation and maybe pay a $200 fine. She will then proceed to walk around and joke about it afterwards.
Thats what kills me!! This lady "can face up to 10yrs and a big fine." I remember on there were 2 women in Mart. One worked for an insurance company and the other for a drug rehab place in Waco. The insurance lady was cashing the checks of customers, one being FBC and pocketing the money. I think she embezzled close to 50K, even taking money from an organization at the TYC. The other lady took over 50K from her job and NEITHER of them did any jail time. I don't even think their trail has come up yet and this has been over a year for one of them. If this lady gets anything, those 2 should get some jail time also.
Probably just get a slap on the wrist and less time than Margaret Mills.
