CORYELL COUNTY (July 6, 2009)--A Belton man died Friday after the motorcycle he was riding struck a truck-towed trailer in Coryell County.

The collision happened on Friday around 12:40 p.m. near the intersection of County Road 130 and U.S. Highway 84.

A 2002 Ford Pick-Up Truck, driven by Maurice Young, of Gatesville, was towing a trailer northbound on County Road 130.

The truck had just turned left on to U.S. 84 when an eastbound 1999 Honda Motorcycle, driven by Justin Moran, 21, of Belton, crested a hill near the intersection at what police say was a high rate of speed.

Police say Moran attempted to “lay the motorcycle down” but struck the trailer being towed by the Ford.

Moran, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:10 p.m. by Coryell County Justice of the Peace Jimmy Wood.

Moran’s body was taken to Gatesville Funeral Home.

Young was not injured.

No citations were issued in the accident.

Kourtney, I was on Hwy. 84 going east bound towards Gatesville when this young man passed me at a very high rate of speed, he was unfortunate to have met up with another driver who apparently was abiding by the law when he made a complete stop at the stop sign then proceeded forward to make a left hand turn after seeing no one coming from the west. This driver was abiding by the law and unfortunate Justin wasn't, my heart goes out to both families and we don't know what Gods will is but someday we will. God bless.

Everyone has been impacted by the awful accident. Please pray for everyone because this was a tragedy that was of no fault either side.

I really appreciate the nice comments for my boyfriend Justin, but for those who are opening their mouths & putting their input in, seriously unless you know what you are talking about then you really need to refrain. I have lost my boyfriend & his family has lost their son & it was not Justins fault. He had no where to go to get around the man who pulled out & blocked the entire road.
