RIESEL (September 8, 2009)—A fire that may have been caused by an electrical problem destroyed a rental home Tuesday afternoon in Riesel.

The woman who lived in the house and her three grandchildren escaped without injury, along with several of the family’s dogs.

The fire broke out at around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 8400 block of Old Marlin Road.

Riesel firefighters responded and were later joined by firefighters from Mart.

The flames destroyed the house and its contents.

The Red Cross was assisting the displaced residents Tuesday evening.

This woman and her grand children were very lucky to get out of the house in time, and I'm sorry for the loss of the house.
