ROCKDALE (October 14, 2009)-Residents of the City of Rockdale are asked to boil their water at least until Thursday morning while the city tests the water system for harmful bacteria.

The system began experiencing low water pressure Wednesday morning and in such cases the state requires system-wide testing to ensure the low pressure did not encourage bacterial growth within the system

Residents system-wide are asked to boil any water to be used for drinking, cooking or ice making throughout the day on Wednesday while the required tests are completed, said David Akin, public works director for the city.

Akin told News 10 Wednesday he anticipates the boil order should be lifted Thursday morning.
