(October 18, 2009) - A child playing on his bicycle near his rural home in Elm Mott was hit by an SUV Sunday evening at the end of his family's driveway.

EMT crews, the McLennan County Sheriff's deputies, the Department of Public Safety, and the Elm Mott Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 911 call off of Johnson Road at about 6:30 p.m.

Neighbors living nearby say the mother of the child, between ages 5 and 8 years old, brought the boy inside while waiting for help. The 6-year-old suffered head and upper body trauma and was flown by Medivac to Scott and White Hosptial.

No word on his condition at this time.

The Elm Mott Volunteer Fire Chief says the truck that hit the child was going about 30 miles per hour.
