Central Texas Inmate Who Bolted From Work Crew In Custody
A 21-year-old Central Texas county jail inmate who bolted from a road crew was still on the run Wednesday, but authorities think he hasn’t gone far because he has relatives in the area.

LIMESTONE COUNTY (November 26, 2009)—Limestone County Jail inmate Kevin Lee Dabney, 21, who fled from a work detail around lunchtime Tuesday has been apprehended.
A Limestone County dispatcher told News 10 he was taken into custody around 9:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Dabney ran off from a work crew at around 11 a.m. Tuesday on County Road 422 south of the Shiloh community and was still on the run Wednesday.
Limestone County Sheriff Dennis Wilson said Dabney was on a crew that was patching roads when he ran on Tuesday.
He said Dabney has been working on that crew since September with no previous problems.
Deputies came close to catching him several times Tuesday, Wilson said, but on each occasion, Dabney managed to elude authorities.
Felony escape charges have been filed against Dabney, authorities said Wednesday.
He was serving time for non-violent felonies, and was wanted on an outstanding evading arrest warrant out of Freestone County.

they need to go back to the way it was before judge barefoot sander, have inmate tenders, that is give the baddest inmate in the block numerous and excessive priveleges, when the other inmates misbehave and cause problems then HIS privileges get taken away, that worked well for years, bring it back
Let Daney be the supervisor over the center and jail. He has plenty of expertise. Now that he is caught, try getting information from the county. Bring a lunch, its going to be a long day. The inmates pick up trash along the roads? I dont believe Ive seen them along mine. It must be on their to-do list. Life after prison is usually more prison but who is counting.
I agree with Lieutenant 100%. My husband works for TDCJ and my father has worked for TDCJ for 25 years. They work their butts off for very little pay and rarely any praise. Without Correctional Officers, who do you think would be babysitting these horrible offenders? And the thing that people need to understand, is that Correctional Officers rarely complain. They do their job, come home, get up the next day and do it all over again. Please don't put down TDCJ or the officers. Its a tough job that very few people would do. Just be thankful that there are men and women willing to babysit inmates so that you don't have to.
