HAMILTON County (November 25, 2009)--A young woman died late Tuesday at a hospital from injuries she received after she was thrown from her SUV during a rollover collision near Hamilton.

The collision occurred just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday along S.H. 36 about three-tenths of a mile west of Hamilton.

Lampasas Department of Public Safety dispatcher Allen told News 10 a student identified as Patricia Mallon Grant, 19, of Houston, was ejected from her 2002 Toyota 4-Runner when it struck a ditch and became airborne.

At 9:22 p.m. Tuesday, Scott and White Dr. Matthew Davis pronounced Grant dead.

Hamilton Trooper Washko investigated the fatal collision and determined Grant was traveling eastbound at an unsafe speed when she failed to negotiate a curve in the road.

Reading from Trooper Washko’s report, Allen said the driver overcorrected, lost control of the vehicle and went into a side skid.

The SUV crossed into the westbound lane and then struck the ditch on the north side of the road, where it rolled and became airborne, Allen said.

Grant was not wearing her seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle.

Hamilton County EMS responded to the collision and Grant was taken to Scott and White Medical Center in Temple where she later died.

It’s sad that people think they can judge or comment on this when they don't even know what happened. Patricia was the most amazing, kind, generous, funny, and loving person I have ever known. She wasn’t going "90-100" miles there was a witness, and a dear that ran in front of her car which she tried to avoid. I don’t understand why people feel the need to add comments that are disrespectful to someone who did nothing to them. Each one of you has been in a car without a seat belt on at some point but you were lucky and nothing happened. She wasn’t lucky. This was an accident it could have happened to anyone. I pray that you never have to deal with this loss, but I can guarantee if you did I would never make judgmental comments about a situation I don’t know anything about that do nothing but harm the family and friends of the person who was lost.

i myself have dealt with more than my fair share of loss and there are soo many things i want to say to those of you who flagrantly disrespect someone who cant defend herself None of which fit in this box nor would mallon approve of so i will simply say may we all take this as a lesson to live learn and move on with and may everyones losses and lives be paid back ten fold in the mannor they conduct themselves in Shall the cruel be judged by god with a sovereign and hopefully lovingly forgiving hand, shall the forgivers mistakes be forgotten, shall there be reasurance for those who question shall there be love for those who know not of it and shall there be hope for those who do not believe, and shall those that light up others lives and those who have loved and lost and whose hearts and souls suffer so many sad stories here on earth be lightened as they be lifted by the hand of God. Karma really does come back around, we all make mistakes, and eventually we all die let it be a lesson.
