BOSQUE County (December 9, 2009)--Bosque County investigators are still piecing together details surrounding the death of a Hillsboro woman who was reported missing Monday and who was later found dead Tuesday along the water's edge near the Lake Whitney Dam.

The Bosque County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday identified the dead woman as Eira Escobar, 20, of Hillsboro.

Escobar was reported missing Monday by her mother.

A Bosque County sheriff’s deputy spotted the missing woman’s Dodge Neon at around 11 a.m. Tuesday on State Highway 22.

After he determined it was empty, he began searching the area at Soldier’s Bluff Park near Laguna Park where he found Escobar’s body, which appeared to have washed ashore.

Bosque County Justice of the Peace Jamie Zander of Clifton pronounced Escobar dead at the scene.

Technicians from the Department of Public Safety Crime Lab were en route from Austin late Tuesday afternoon.

Texas Rangers were also reviewing video from a surveillance camera that shows a woman walking along the dam Monday morning.

Investigators asked anyone who may have seen an Hispanic woman in her 20s on the dam between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Monday to contact the Bosque County Sheriff’s Office at (254) 435-2362.

Bosque County Sheriff Anthony Malott said late Tuesday afternoon that the injuries the woman suffered aren’t consistent with an accidental death.

Malott said investigators were seeking warrants to search the woman’s car and the vehicle belonging to her ex-boyfriend, whom deputies were interviewing late Tuesday afternoon at the Bosque County Sheriff’s Office in Meridian.

The ex-boyfriend was nearby when the deputy discovered the abandoned car, but told authorities he was searching for Escobar.

First of all Bosque County has some stupid people working for them. Why would someone cut there own throat and then jump into freezen cold water? Does not make sense to rule it a suicide. From the start it looked like murder and there going to just let someone get away with taking some young girls life. Makes me angry.......
