HAMILTON (December 22, 2009)—A Hamilton County resident died Monday night after being stabbed during a fight.

Hamilton County Sheriff Gregg Bewley told News 10 Joseph Barton Belyeu is held in the Hamilton County Jail charged with murder.

His bond was set at $300,000.

Bewley said in a news release the victim was identified as Tommy Allen Craig.

Deputies were sent to a rural address just after 9:30 p.m. Monday on an assault call and while en route they noticed a car traveling at a high rate of speed.

Deputies later learned the driver of the vehicle was transporting Craig to the hospital in Hamilton.

Once they arrived at the address, deputies learned the stabbing resulted from a fight between Craig, Belyeu and several other people.

Deputies reported that several people were injured during the fight, but Craig was stabbed several times.

He was subsequently flown to Scott & White Hospital, in Temple, where he later died from his injuries.

Bewley said the incident remains under investigation.
