WACO (January 29, 2010)—The Waco Fire Department will receive a $136,579 Department of Homeland Security grant that can be used for training and support and to purchase safety and rescue equipment, Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said Friday.
“This funding will help make sure first responders at the City of Waco Fire Department have the resources necessary to keep the surrounding community safe,” Cornyn said.
“We have a responsibility to support those working on the front lines every day to protect families, homes and property.”

I'm sure several of the small town volunteer fire departments around here could use a grant like this. I hope they can contact the Waco fire chief and find out how to go about getting a similar grant.
