(July 16, 2008)—Convergys Corp., which has call centers in Killeen and McGregor, is buying Dallas-based Intervoice, Inc., which makes automated voice response systems, in a $335 million cash deal.

Convergys said Wednesday directors of both companies have approved the transaction.

By Aug. 1, Intervoice shareholders will receive a tender offer of $8.25 a share, which is a premium of 24 percent above Tuesday’s closing price.

Intervoice had revenues of $202.4 million for the fiscal year that ended Feb. 28.

Convergys has about 75,000 employees in 87 customer contact centers around the world.

The company expects revenue of $2.85 billion to $3 billion for the current year.

Convergys announced in November that it had acquired the facility in McGregor west of Waco that housed a call center than computer giant Dell closed down the month before.
