(July 17, 2008)—You won’t feel the impact at the pump immediately, but crude oil prices settled at less than $130 a barrel Thursday for the first time in more than a month, as a big slide in oil prices continued for a third straight day.
Light, sweet crude for August delivery dropped $5.31 to settle at $129.29 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
The benchmark price has lost more than $15 in just the past three days.
At the gas pump, prices held steady at a record topping $4.11 a gallon, according to the American Automobile Association, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express.
AAA-Texas said Thursday the average retail price at the pump rose 2 cents this week to $3.98.
Motorists in the Lone Star State are paying nearly $1.04 more per gallon than they did one year ago, AAA-Texas said.
San Antonio and Corpus Christi have the least expensive gas in the state at $3.95 a gallon.
Drivers in Port Arthur and Beaumont were paying the most at $3.99 a gallon.
The association reports despite the volatility of crude oil prices, the retail price of gasoline continues to show some stability.
Around the state Thursday, prices ranged from $3.81 a gallon at a station in Princeton to as much as $4.29 a gallon at a station in Fort Davis, according to Texasgasprices.com
