Stocks, Oil End Higher Wednesday Save Email Print

(August 20, 2008)--Stock prices ended gains Wednesday for the first time this week.

The Dow surged nearly 69 points to 11,417.

The S&P 500 added 7 points to 1,274.

The Nasdaq composite rose 4 points to 2,389.

Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by an 8 to 7 margin.

Volume on the NYSE came to 4.4 billion shares.

Nasdaq stock arket volume was 1.7 billion shares.

Crude futures rose 45 cents to $114.98 a barrel Wednesday on the New York ercantile Exchange.
