Stocks End Lower Monday Save Email Print

(August 25, 2008)—Stock prices fell Monday as financial issues pressured the broader market.

The Dow lost nearly 242 points to 11,386.

The S&P 500 dropped 25 points to 1,266.

The Nasdaq composite shed 49 points to 2,365.

Declining issues outnumbered advancers by a 3 to 1 margin on the New York Stock Exchange.

Volume on the NYSE came to 3.3 billion shares.

Nasdaq stock market volume was 1.4 billion shares.

Crude oil settled slightly higher, rising 52 cents to $115.11 a barrel.
