Stocks Take A Dive Thursday Save Email Print

(September 4, 2008)--Investors sent stocks sharply lower Thursday amid worries that the economic slowdown isn’t showing signs of improving.

The Dow fell 344 points to 11,188.

The S&P 500 dropped 38 points to 1,236.

The Nasdaq composite was down 74 points to 2,259.

Declining issues outnumbered advancers by a 5-1 margin.

NYSE volume came to 5 billion shares.

Nasdaq stock market volume was 2.3 billion shares.

Oil prices closed at their lowest level in five months, down $1.46 to $107.89 a barrel in New York.
