(November 8, 2008)—Texas homeowners with Farmers Insurance coverage could be facing a nearly 10 percent rate hike by mid-February.

The Texas Department of Insurance is reviewing the company’s rate increase, which was filed this week.

Farmers Insurance officials said the hike has been in the planning stage for months and isn't a result of Hurricanes Dolly and Ike.

there raising our rates but they don't want to pay when we have damage. They keep coming up with excuses and exclusions that you didn't even know you had on your policy. This sucks. We shell out lots of $$$ to them every month just to be turned down when we have a claim.
