(November 26, 2008)--The blue have chalked up a fourth straight session advance Wednesday, as investors draw confidence from a pledge from President-elect Barack Obama to have an economic plan on his first day in office.
The Dow gained 247 points to 8,726 in the last full day of trading for the week.
The S&P 500 rose 30 points to 887.
The Nasdaq composite surged 67 points to 1,532.
Advancing issues topped decliners by a 6 to 1 margin.
Volume on the NYSE came to 5.6 billion shares.
Nasdaq stock market volume was 1.9 billion.
The stock market will be closed for Thanksgiving and then will open for a shortened session on Friday.
