(October 5, 2007)--The frontman for the pop group Hanson says he hopes to be playing guitar again in a few days after having a blood clot removed from his lungs.

Isaac Hanson underwent surgery in Dallas on Thursday for a condition called venous thoracic outlet syndrome.

The 26-year-old checked into the hospital after his arm began swelling and discoloring during a concert this week.

Dr. Brad Grimsley, who performed the surgery, says Hanson will need to have a rib removed in the next few months to help open his vein and prevent another clot.

Hanson will remain on blood thinners in the meantime.

The group Hanson is best known for their 1997 hit, "MMMBop."
