(July 31, 2008)—A man accused of fatally stabbing a woman in a Massachusetts apartment and then fleeing with his four children and their mother faces murder charges.
Police in New York say Rodlyn Petibois was taken into custody as he was walking down a Brooklyn Street. His children and their mother were found safe sitting under a tree in a park.
Earlier, Massachusetts State police had said the children and their mother had been taken against their will. Amber Alerts were issued. But New York City police said they believed the family had not been abducted, but they said the details of the situation weren't available.
The children's mother was not believed to be an accomplice.
Massachusetts State Police issued an Amber Alert Wednesday for four children missing from their home who may have been abducted along with their 26-year-old mother.
A state police spokesman said the children, who range in age from 11 months to 3 years, were believed to be in danger.
Investigators thought the children and their mother, Louna Eveillard, were with the children’s father, Rodlyn Petibois, 25.
Police say the children were evidently kidnapped from their home early Wednesday morning.
A woman was stabbed to death at the same address and Petibois is wanted for questioning in the killing.
Police said he may be armed and is considered dangerous.
