(August 26, 2008)—A badly burned body was discovered Tuesday inside one of the homes destroyed by a wildfire that quickly spread through dry grass and shrubs in a Boise, Idaho neighborhood, authorities said.

Boise Police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower said fire crews found the body early Tuesday while combing through one of the nine homes destroyed by the flames.

Police said Monday 10 homes were destroyed in the fire, but revised those figures Tuesday to nine homes destroyed and 10 homes damaged.

No other residents were injured, but 17 police officers and at least one firefighter were treated at local hospitals.

Hightower says the fire is under control and residents from the more than 50 homes evacuated Monday night can now return.
