Animal Protection Group Evacuates Pets From Louisiana Save Email Print

(August 29, 2008)--An animal protection group plans to evacuate more than 250 cats and dogs from Louisiana as Tropical Storm Gustav approaches the Gulf Coast.

Staff members from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Texas were scheduled to fly to New Orleans Friday to round up the animals and caravan back in three Louisiana SPCA vehicles to its headquarters in McKinney.

A statement from the animal welfare agency says the animal evacuees are expected to arrive on Saturday afternoon.

They'll be evaluated, spayed or neutered and placed for adoption at half the cost of the normal adoption rate.

Only animals whose owners have surrendered them will be brought to Texas.

Strays will be sent to other Louisiana shelters.

Why don't you spend your money, time, and resources on humans instead of animal?
