Bush: Financial Rescue Plan Will Take Some Time Save Email Print

A | A | A

(October 6, 2008)—President Bush wrapped up a weekend at his Central Texas ranch Monday, flying to San Antonio where he said the $700 billion bailout plan he signed Friday will take some time to work.

After meeting with small-business owners at an old-fashioned soda shop in San Antonio, the president asked for patience from a jittery country.

Congress approved the massive federal intervention plan last week that allows the government to buy up devalued assets from financial companies in hopes of unlocking frozen credit lines.

Mr. Bush said, “It's going to take awhile" to get the program working fully and effectively.

He called it a big step toward solving the problem.
