Six Dead In Family Murder-Suicide Save Email Print

A | A | A

(October 7, 2008)—Police in Los Angeles say they found two notes and a will left behind by a man who killed five family members before taking his own life.

Deputy LA Police Chief Michel Moore said investigators found two suicide letters claiming responsibility for the deaths that indicated the man was despondent over extreme financial problems and felt killing himself and his family was the honorable thing to do.

Police officers found Karthik Rajaram dead with a gun in his hand.

Officers were dispatched to the home after Rajaram's wife didn't show up at a neighbor's house to go to work.

Besides Rajaram, the dead include his wife and her 69-year-old mother, as well as his three sons, ages 7, 12, and 19.

To Betty: I feel your pain and so sorry to hear about the loss of not only your niece but your sister. The controller must be the ex? I believe you when you say the "controller" made their life hell. I know one just like that word you use. God bless you Betty. YOu are in my prayers

I feel real bad for all those people! Suicide is never a solution for anything. I know this because I had a beautiful 14yoa niece who committed suicide in 1968. Believe me, time does NOT heal all wounds. My sister (her mother) grieved the rest of her life. However the controller of everything in the family is still alive and grieving for his wife. He made her life hell and the children as well and now wants to know why his kids don't visit very often if ever since their mother's death. Yes, suicide affects everyone!!

Suicide does not solve anything. It leaves a lot of hurting people (not just immediate family) behind wondering why? Suicide is nothing but a permanent solution for a temporary problem. May God strengthen the rest of his family.

If a person kills himself, his family cannot claim his insurance money. No pay for suicides. Also, this is not the first time our country has had problems and it won't be the last. Remember the gas "shortages" and long lines of the late 70s? Or the home mortgage rates of 16% and up? Or the really slow economy in the 80s? We cycle through lean years and then through fat years. Cooler years, then warmer years. Environmental issues rise and fall in their importance to the public. The stock market goes up and down. It's not all bad, and when things go bad they always manage to right themselves sooner or later. Life is hard, but conquering obstacles makes you stronger and more able when the next crisis arrives, and makes you appreciate when times are good.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Indians_Abroad/Rajaram_was_fired_for_behavioural_problems/articleshow/3571706.cms This is a website for the real article, not the one on here that leaves out lots of details. I was right, he was well off at one point and probably couldn't take being part of the lower class society. He also had many emotional and behavioral problems, he was not in his right state of mind at all. I dont' feel sorry for him at all...I feel sorry for his poor innocent family that he killed.

My heart does go out to this family.. Why did they feel like this was the only way out? I hope this is a true case where they were working hard and trying to pay their bills, not a case where the family bought a huge house, and a fancy car they did'nt need....people are just getting themselves farther into debt...we can't blame the government for everything...they're not the ones saying...buy this car now , buy this house now..don't save your money....sure there are tempting ads around and everyone wants to have everything in life but jeez...is it really worth all this...there are plenty assistance programs that could have helped this poor family. There are plenty of churches and community centers that help families in need...I think this guy lost it!

There is no excuse for what he did. You cant blame the economy and the government for this. Yeah, there are alot, ALOT of people hurting right now, I'm one of them. But what he did was inexcusable. If he wanted to do the "honorable" thing he should have had life insurance and taken his self out alone.

This is very very sad, i just hope that these stories find their way into the eye sight of our government, and to show them that people really need help, just because you work doesn't always mean that you can meet your bills, along with just trying to eat, make food stamps available to people who really really need them even if only for a little while, please do something before more families are lost in such a tragic manner, God rest their souls

This is very sad, but was worse is that we will here more and more stories like this one on a daily basis if something isn't done pretty soon.

This is a very tragic story. Our country is in such a dire need of financial aid that people will go to such extremes as to kill him and his family. Feeling that is the only way to rid him of this heavy burder that he can't take care of his family the way they need to be taken care of. The government needs to be aware of such stories and get something underway to help these types of families.

Why kill them ALL??? I guess he felt they wouldn't make it without him??

What a tragedy. First, that the financial status of families would lead to someone wanting to commit suicide and second that he felt he needed to share his woes and fate with his family. My heart and prayers go out to the family left behind.

That is just horrible. My heart goes out to the family of those innocent people.
