(October 7, 2008)I—Police in Kentucky were trying to determine Tuesday when a 35-year-old woman stabbed her daughters to death and then shot herself in the head.

Deputy Jefferson County Coroner Bob Jones said Hope Orwick, died of a gunshot wound to the head and identified the girls as Emily Orwick, 9, and Lindsey Orwick, 8.

Jones says both girls died of stab wounds, but he couldn't say how many times they were stabbed pending an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday.

Smiley said a family member who stopped by the house found the scene just before 6:30 p.m. and called police.

Drugs and lawyers is what is wrong with this county. Because now everybody is on some type of drug wheather it's legal or not,and and there is always a lawyer who will go in to court and make up a big story to help get these folks off for breaking the law or taking someones life.

Re from Waco, I think you are right but our authorities are screwed up too. I have reported things in the past about people I know and care about and nothing gets done. I never go to the authorities for anything unless absolutely necassary. If someone is not caught in the act there is nothing anyone can do until it is too late. It's just easier for authorities that way.

....I will ask again: WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR GENERATION?! Why is there so much madness in the world? Someone is going to come out and say" Well, we noticed her acting strange" or " she kept talking about killing herself" and then it's too late. I'm telling you, this is going to happen and then the question should be: Why didn't you report her? People, is it really about "minding your own business" these days when you suspect abuse, neglect, or any other type of harm going on with someone or thier children? Or, is it that you're afraid to be wrong and by that time the damage has been done? Nobody does the nieghborly thing anymore. Nobody looks out for one another..why?? Maybe there weren't any signs in this case, but even when there is, people ignore it...then people are shocked when this kind of thing happens..I am talking some smack, but I feel like venting today. And I do feel as though I make a good point. We need to look out for one another.
