(October 21, 2008)—Police in Las Vegas continued to look Tuesday for possible links between a drug cartel and the grandfather of a 6-year-old boy who was found safe after he was kidnapped at gunpoint from his home.

Clemens Tinnemeyer, 51, and his companion Terri Leavy, 42, were arrested in California on federal material witness warrants and are being held as material witnesses in connection with the abduction of Tinnemeyer’s grandson Cole Puffinburger, who was missing for three days before a bus driver found him walking on a street in Las Vegas.

The two made a court appearance Monday.

Police believe drug dealers who were attempting to recover lost money and property kidnapped the boy to send a message to the youngster’s grandfather.
