ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (March 24, 2009)—The U.S. Coast Guard says a second crewmember has died after a fishing boat sank off southern New Jersey.

Four others remain missing and have been in the icy water since early Tuesday.

Seven people were aboard the scallop boat that sank about 75 miles offshore.

It was owned by a North Carolina man and was based at Cape May.

Three crewmembers were plucked earlier from the water, one dead, one barely alive and another conscious and alert.

Helicopters and boats were searching a large swath of ocean for the missing crewmembers.
