MEXICO CITY (June 25, 2009)--Mexico's President Felipe Calderon is warning of dire consequences if his government fails in its battle against organized crime and official corruption.
Calderon says the future of Mexican democracy is at stake and he’s urging Mexican lawmakers to support his government's efforts and at the same time is criticizing politicians who he says want to return to an era when gangs were tolerated.
Addressing a security conference in Mexico city, the president gave a scathing account of how far corruption has spread into government ahead of next month's elections.
He called for greater accountability for lawmakers, including an end to single-term elections.
In Mexico's current system, politicians from president on down can serve in a specific post for only one term, generally three or six years.
Calderon notes there have been more than 10,000 organized crime-related deaths in Mexico since he took office two and a-half years ago.

If Calderon wants to fight the corruption and bloodshed, he will fight to change the laws that create them: he will stand with the Latin American Commission on Drugs and Democracy, and he will demand an end to the failed drug policies of the U.S.

Mexico has had bad problems for over 50 years, but they are getting worse, because El Presidente let it. Mexico has made too much money off of illegal drugs to want to stop it, and now it's totally out of hand!!! Stick your so-called Democracy Calderon where the sun don't shine!! Americans need to stop giving them our money (for their illegal drugs).

It is positively possible that the people of Mexico will replace Calderon. That would be the revenge for being used by corrupt Americans. The truth is becoming clear, do you have a job? Did you get thrown out of your home? Who is getting the raises and bonuses? They say it was to keep good help around, BS, better help is unemployed with Masters. It is called taking care of your relatives and friends or associates in corruption. Corrupt of Mexico are in prison, few of the corrupt in America are in prison. Corruption is a two way street it takes a product and a buyer.
