INDIANAPOLIS (July 1, 2009)--A former pastor and his sons have been charged with securities fraud in what officials say was a multimillion-dollar scheme that bilked church members who thought they were helping build churches, but who were actually buying the men planes and sports cars.

The Indiana secretary of state's office says arrest warrants were issued for Vaughn Reeves and three of his sons.

They're charged with committing fraud in connection with a scheme to dupe about 11,000 church members into buying bonds worth $120 million that were supposed to finance church construction projects.

Prosecutors say the men pocketed about $6 million, and most of their victims lived in Indiana.

The victims were allegedly told that buying the church bonds was their "Christian responsibility."
