MIAMI (July 6, 2009)--Authorities in South Florida say a teenager accused of killing more than a dozen cats fits the profile of a sociopath and they say he laughed when police first spoke to him about the cat deaths.

Tyler Weinman filed a written plea of not guilty to charges of 19 counts each of animal cruelty and improperly disposing of an animal body.

He also faces four counts of burglary related to the cat deaths.

If convicted, Weinman could face as much as 158 years in prison.

Police believe Weinman, who's free on bond, was behind the deaths of at least 19 cats whose mutilated bodies were found in Miami-Dade County during the spring.

Altogether, more than 30 dead cats were found between April and June.

Weinman's lawyer says none of the evidence directly connects his client to the crimes.

As for the police concluding his client fits the profile of a sociopath, Weinman's attorney calls it "junk science" and says it will be proven false.

Lock him up for the 138 years and NO parol EVER for him. He defiately sounds like a sociopath to me. Anyone who would kill innocent cats would kill a human without any thought. Maybe they could just go ahead and kill him just like he killed the cats or maybe the lions and tigers at the local zoo are hungry and want to revenge the killing of their kinfolks.
