WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 9, 2009)—A million play yards are being recalled because their side rails can fail to latch properly, posing a fall hazard the children, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says.

The play yards were sold under the Koolcraft, Carter’s Sesame Street, Jeep, Countours, Care Bear and Eric Carle brands at major retailers including Wal-Mart, Kmart, Sears and Target from January 2000 through January 2009.

The manufacturer has received 347 reports of cases in which the sides of the play yards have collapsed, resulting in injuries to 21 young children including bumps, scrapes, bruises and one concussion, the CPSC said.

Those who own the play yards should stop using them and contact Koolcraft at (866) 594-4208 anytime for repair kits.
