HOLLAND, Mich. (October 30, 2009)--A Christian college has scuttled a student-proposed forum on sexuality that would have included an openly gay Oscar-winning filmmaker.
Hope College in Holland, Michigan, issued a statement Wednesday that said Lance Dustin Black's advocacy for gay rights "would not contribute constructively" to the exploration of ongoing issues there.
Black received an Academy Award for his original screenplay for "Milk."
He's in the Holland area directing a film that he has written, "What's Wrong With Virginia."
The school said Black is welcome to accept an invitation from a Hope class to talk about his career.
He told The Holland Sentinel that the only controversy he was aware of was that he hadn't given the class a date yet.

The fact that you were raised by your 70 year old grandpappy isnt the issue unless he was gay and as far as you being normal because of it is yet to be debated. Doesnt Matter is an idoit for saying, "For a child to grow up healthy and normal, BOTH male and female parental roles are required". I was raised by my grandfather who was in in 70's and I turned out fine. You need to stick to religion to support your gay-bashing beliefs. It serves your needs just fine.
Me thinks "someone" doth protest too much! I certainly dont believe that god approves of all this hate! However i do think he hates child molesters and people like "someone" that supports them! I would rather be surrounded by gays than child molesters/rapists and their supporters!
