(June 12, 2007)--State officials have urged Georgia residents to pray for rain.
They declared Monday a "prayer day" for an end to the drought gripping the state.
Gov. Sonny Perdue spoke yesterday at the Georgia Farm Bureau in Macon, where commodities specialist Jimmy Lee said farmers have been praying for rain for some time now.
Tropical Storm Barry brought much needed rain to parts of the state a few weeks ago, but it was not enough to end the extreme drought gripping 95 Georgia counties.
