EATONVILLE, Wash. (December 22, 2009)--The Tacoma, Wash., area has been the scene of another police shooting.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday two deputies were shot Monday evening while responding to report of a fight between two brothers, one of whom evidently wanted the other out of the house.
Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said one of the brothers greeted deputies at the door, while the other brother was inside the house, arming himself.
Authorities said that the second brother opened fire on the deputies, hitting one of them multiple times.
Troyer said the deputies were able to return fire and killed the gunman.
One of the wounded deputies was airlifted to a Seattle hospital and is in critical condition.
The other was taken to a medical center in Tacoma in serious condition.
Sheriff's officials identified the dead man as David Crable, 35.
Records show he was convicted earlier this year of exhibiting or displaying a weapon with intent to intimidate.
Three weeks ago, four Lakewood police officers were shot and killed at a suburban coffee shop in Parkland, Wash.
