(August 18, 2007)--A shark attack in Florida has left a college student with more than 100 stitches.

Andrea Lynch says she was floating on her back near a boat in Sarasota Bay Wednesday when a shark bit her side.

It shook her and then let her go.

She got back in the boat and told her friends that a shark might have bitten her.

At first they didn't believe her.

Then she says she felt the gashes with her hand and saw blood pooling in the boat.

Lynch had 17 puncture wounds.

Doctors say the shark's teeth missed all major organs but came close to her lungs.

A shark expert says the culprit may have been a bull shark about 6 feet long.
