GAINESVILLE, Fla. (July 29, 2010)—The Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Fla., is using its website and social-networking sites to promote a Quran-burning ceremony on Sept. 11.

Organizers plan to burn the Islamic holy text on church grounds.

In response, the Council on American-Islamic Relations is asking Muslims that day to invite friends and acquaintances to share Ramadan fast-breaking meals and distribute copies of the Quran.

The church, which also campaigns against homosexuality, made headlines last year after distributing T-shirts that read, "Islam is of the Devil."

Sooner or later, when turning the other cheek hasn't work, when being forgiving and tolerant is taken advantage of and abused, when forced to accept religions and lifestyles that we know are not right, all the while my religion is being trashed, When Backed Into a Corner It's time to Fight Back, Even if Instigated.
