DALLAS (January 30, 2013)—A federal grand jury has indicted three Dallas residents in an investigation of nearly $280,000 in travel agency payment fraud, federal prosecutors said.
Jorge Armando Flores, his wife Roxana Flores and her son Julio C. Funes-Alas were arrested Tuesday in Amityville, N.Y., and remained in custody Wednesday pending their return to Dallas.
They face conspiracy and mail fraud charges.
The indictment unsealed Tuesday says Jorge and Roxana Flores were sales agents for an international wholesale travel agent, U.S.A. Gateway Inc. of Dallas, which legally purchased tickets directly from airlines and then sold the tickets to retail travel agencies.
Since 2007 the three are accused of conspiring to convert payment checks from agencies in Texas, Rhode Island and Massachusetts to personal use.
