GRAPEVINE (September 4, 2013)--An upgraded payment system for drivers leaving Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport went online Wednesday a more than a week later than originally scheduled.
Airport officials launched the new automated parking control system Wednesday.
It registers vehicles driving in and out of the complex.
The system was to go online starting on Aug. 26, but was delayed by transition issues.
Airport spokesman David Magana said the upgraded system should reduce wait times to enter and exit.
Entry lanes and most exit lanes are now automated.
Drivers will be able to process their own transactions quickly with a North Texas Toll Authority TollTag or a credit card as they exit the airport.
Several booths will still be staffed with cashiers at the north and south airport exit plazas.
