IRVING (April 10, 2014) The average price at the pump rose by a nickel this week in Texas,
AAA-Texas reported Thursday.
The average price at the pump has reached $3.43 per gallon, AAA said, while gasoline prices nationally rose 4 cents this week to hit $3.61 per gallon.
Drivers in Dallas-Fort Worth are paying the most statewide for gasoline, at $3.49 per gallon while El Paso has the cheapest gasoline this week at $3.30 per gallon, AAA said.
Refiners must switch to producing summer-blend gasoline by May 1 as part of spring fuel updates.
AAA officials say seasonal refinery maintenance and the changeover to the new blend increases the chances of a disruption to production, which can push gasoline prices higher.
